California State University Libraries

Consortial Abbreviation:
CSU
Brief Description:
Since 1989, the California State University, Office of the Chancellor, with the support and approval of the CSU Council of Library Deans, has managed a program of cooperative e-resource buying that encompasses the centrally-funded Electronic Core Collection and the centrally-negotiated, campus-funded Opt-In subscriptions, which collectively save the CSU millions of dollars annually. The Chancellor's Office and the campus libraries jointly manage a shared library services platform and discovery system, including programs for collaborative cataloging, centralized e-resource management, resource sharing, and third-party systems integration. Additional system-wide collaborations include a centrally-hosted institutional repository and digital library platform, and a 24/7 virtual reference service.
