Brief Description: 

The Statewide California Electronic Library Consortium was established in 1986 to develop resource-sharing among the libraries of private academic institutions throughout California. Since its inception, the SCELC membership has grown to include more than 100 private, not-for-profit academic or research institutions primarily in California and Texas and is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit tax-exempt organization. As a whole, SCELC represents:

  • 100+ member institutions
  • 200+ affiliate institutions
  • Approximately 1,300,000 full-time students and researchers
  • Over $200,000,000 in library budgets
  • More than $50,000,000 in annual licensing volume
