Brief Description: 

Iceland Consortium (IC) was started in 1999 when The National and University Library of Iceland signed an agreement  with Encyclopedia Britannica for a nationwide access. 

Overseeing IC is the National Librarian. Working with the National Librarian is a steering committee consisting of five members. The steering committee works on strategic issues, negotiate licensing agreements, approve of budget and decide the annual payment of participating institutions. Iceland Consortium consist of circa 200 paying members.  

Access is based on Icelandic IP-numbers and is nationwide.

Iceland Consortium manages 11 licenses including aggreements with scholarly journal publishers, aggregators and bibliographic and indexing databases.
