Based in Montréal, Québec, Canada, BCI's members are the 18 academic universities, all based in the province of Québec. Amongst other services, BCI offers electronic content licensing to its members via its Consortial Purchasing activities, which are a part of the various activities of BCI's Sub-committee on Libraries (the Sous-comité des bibliothèques). On January 3, 2014 the conférence des recteurs et des principaux des universités du Québec (CREPUQ) changed its name to Bureau de coopération interuniversitaire (BCI).
