The Florida Virtual Campus (formerly known as the Florida Academic Library Services Cooperative (FALSC)) provides services and resources to the libraries of the state’s public colleges and universities. In total, FLVCserves 40 institutions and more than 150 campus libraries. Our products and services are available to more than 1.3 million students, faculty, and staff throughout Florida.
Created and defined in Florida Statute Law (F.S. 1006.73), FLVC provides Florida's public college and university libraries with a sophisticated integrated library system (ILS). We also play a key role in helping institutions provide high-quality educational resources to students at no cost to them through: a statewide collection of online journals, e-books, and other e-resources; a shared catalog of library holdings that allows students to search for materials at any college or university; procurement of e-resources for individual institutions through group licensing; and support for open educational resources, digital preservation, digital collections, and open access publishing. We offer training and consultation for library staff on FLVC products and services, and a statewide Help Desk is only a phone call or email away for faculty, staff, or students who need assistance with our services.
The Florida Virtual Campus (FLVC) is a component of the Florida Postsecondary Academic Library Network (FPALN), created by Florida Statute in 2021. FLVC is housed as an auxiliary unit of the Northwest Regional Data Center (NWRDC) at Florida State University (FSU), with oversight from the Offices of the Chancellors of the Florida College System (FCS) and State University System (SUS). Prior to 2021, the Florida Academic Library Services Cooperative (FALSC) was established as a division of FLVC by Florida statute in 2014. FLVC was created under statute in 2012 through the consolidation of four statewide organizations: the College Center for Library Automation (CCLA), the Florida Center for Library Automation (FCLA), the Florida Center for Advising and Academic Support (FCAAS), and the Florida Distance Learning Consortium (FDLC).
