NC LIVE

Strengthening North Carolina's Libraries

About NC LIVE

Founded in 1997 by representatives from the NC Community Colleges, the NC Independent Colleges and Universities, the NC Public Library Directors Association, the University of North Carolina and the State Library of North Carolina, NC LIVE is a consortium of the state’s 205 public and academic libraries dedicated to helping North Carolina libraries in their efforts to support education, enhance statewide economic development, and improve the quality of life of their communities. Originally launched to facilitate shared electronic resource access, the consortium has grown into its broader collaborative mission. NC LIVE continues to provide electronic access to a vast array of content, but now also supports North Carolina libraries with a website design service, a statewide discovery service, resource training, proxy access, professional development, and marketing. NC LIVE is piloting projects in the areas of open educational resources and search engine optimization for libraries.

Vision

NC LIVE is North Carolina’s statewide library membership cooperative.
